Gifted and Talented Program
A gifted and talented student means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
Exhibits High Performance Capability in an Intellectual, Creative, or Artistic Area;
Possesses an Unusual Capacity for Leadership; or
Excels in a Specific Academic Field.
Nominations can originate from teachers, parents or community members during the nomination period. Nominated students are nominated with a formal nomination sheet to be given to the campus office. Written parent or guardian permission is required to screen/assess a student. If a parent does not want his/her child to be screened, this information will be documented. Information on the Gifted and Talented Program (GT) is available in the counselor’s office.
