The Sheppard AFB Officers' Spouses' Club is is offering scholarship opportunities to eligible individuals to commend community involvement and self-improvement. High school graduate scholarships are awarded in varying amounts to university, junior college, or vocational school bound students who will be attending college full time during the 2018-19 school year. Applicants must be a dependent child of US military personnel currently stationed at Sheppard AFB (active duty or reserve, officer or enlisted), a dependent child of NATO personnel currently stationed at Sheppard AFB, a dependent child of retired or deceased US military personnel previously stationed at Sheppard AFB, or the dependent child of a Civil Service employee currently employed at Sheppard AFB. The Society of American Military Engineers Wichita Mountains Post will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a major in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field. Applicants must be high school seniors who live within a 50 mile radius of Altus, Lawton or Wichita Falls OR be dependents of SAME-Wichita Mountains Post members. This is a renewable scholarship in the amount of $300 for the first year and increasing up to $1000 per year for up to 3 years, depending upon available funds. Application is attached. High school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the Foundation for Individual Rights (FIRE) Free Speech Essay Contest. To enter, students must submit a essay between 800-1000 words on the provided topic. First place - $10,000 scholarship, 2nd place - $5000 scholarship, and runners up (3) - $1000 scholarships. The Fort Worth Scottish Rite, a Masonic program, awards 50 merit-based scholarships in the amount of $1500 each. Scholarships honor graduating seniors for scholastic, extra-curriucular, and community efforts and dedication. Five of the scholarships are given a preference for students who will be enrolling at a community college. Application is attached. Deadline is March 1, 2018.

From April 26-29, 2018 the 20 top finalists will participate in an all expenses paid Leadership Weekend in Chicago during which they’ll interview with the national judges. These 20 finalists will be vying for two first-place awards of $50,000; two second-place awards of $40,000; and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of $20,000. The 480 runners-up will receive fifth-place scholarships of $4,000.
Applications are open for the ACT Student Champion Award! The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition.
Students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT and who fit the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
- Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
- Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.

Two $2500 scholarships ($1250 per semester for two semesters) will be awarded. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who resides in the Santa Rosa Telephone Cooperative service area as an immediate family member of an active member of the Santa Rosa Telephone Cooperative. The Foundation for Rural Service is making a number of scholarships available to their customers and dependents. Applicants must be a graduating senior and receive any telecommunications service from a current NTCA member (Santa Rosa Telephone Co-op) except for students sponsored by an associate member company. Thirty $2500 scholarships will be awarded.
