    Hello,
My name is Jennifer Gumm and I am pleased to be your child's Math teacher. For the 2023-2024 school year, I will be teaching 6th and 8th grade Math here at WFGMS. I look forward to getting to know your family and helping every student enjoy coming to Math class.

As a retired military wife, my family has had the privilege of living in several locations and residing in Iowa Park in 2014. My husband and I have two wonderful boys. Our oldest son is a 2018 graduate of Iowa Park and is a recent graduate from Texas Tech University, and our youngest son graduated IP high school in 2021 and is currently a senior at Midwestern State University. I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University and have over 20 years of experience working with students.

General Math Department Policies and Guidelines can be found on our Math Department Website at https://wfgmsmathdept.weebly.com/

    Grading Categories
    Homework         35%
    Test                   35%
    Quizzes             20%
    IXL                    10%

    Schoology
Students will use Schoology (online classroom portal), to turn in the majority of their assignments, tests, and quizzes. Each assignment will have a specific due date. No assignments will be accepted 7 days after the due date for all assignments.

    Late Work
All assignments are to be completed by the assigned due date (usually the next day). All late work must be submitted and turned in showing the necessary work no later than seven days after the assignment was due. NO work will be accepted 7 days after the due date. If a student may fail the 6 week grading period, the student will be required to stay after school until 4:30pm on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays to make up the required work in order to earn a 70% passing for the 6-week grading period. Additional points may be deducted for extremely late work.

    Make-up Homework
If homework is assigned when the student is in class, the student will be expected to turn in the assignment on the first day back to school. If the student is absent or out of class when the homework is assigned, the student will be responsible for collecting all absent work from the "While You Were Out" folder and must complete the homework within two days of returning to class.

    Corrections
Any grade below 70 must be corrected. These corrections are due within the same timeline as late work.

**It is the students' responsibility to get with the teacher and take care of their late work and/or corrections in a timely manner.

    Before and After School Help
Math can be challenging! I want to provide multiple opportunities for students to acquire new mathematics skills and enjoy coming to Math class. This can be hard when a student just "doesn't get" the homework. I will be available for all students every Tuesday & Thursday after school until 4:30. To further meet the needs of my students, additional after-school tutoring is available and can be arranged individually via email or phone call. Parents must arrange transportation.

If you need to contact me, please send an email to jgumm@ipcisd.net. You can also call the school office and leave a detailed message and I will return your call as soon as possible. My conference is 6th period, 1:50pm - 2:40pm.
