• Going Green
Students will rise to the level of expectation set for them and no one rises to low expectations.  At W.F. George Middle School, students are expected to "Go Green," that is, to maintain passing grades, attend school, and behave appropriately, like the exceptional young people that they are.  We believe that we have some of the best students in North Texas and the expectation is that the students be successful in all of their endeavors.
The premise of the Postive Behavior and Intervention System is to hold students accountable while providing the supports and services they need to be successful.  Student performance is measured by grade level teams of teachers every three weeks and students are temporarily placed into color groups based on their grades and  behavior.  As student performance goes down, restrictions and interventions go up.  Students with model performance and behavior (Green) are encouraged and may receive additional rewards.  Students whose performance has slightly dropped (Black) are monitored more closely so to assure success.  Priveleges may be temporarily lost depending on their current situation.  Students who are not being successful (White) will receive intervention services, but may be restricted for a three week period until grades and/or  behavior improve.  Students in white will receive additonal help during the school day (enrichment) and after school tutorials (mandetory).
The PBIS system is not a ranking system, but a goal system.  Students are challenged and expected  to be resposible for their job and to perform at the level they are capable of.  Frequenlty, students are unsuccesful because they fail to turn in assignments or adequately prepare.   These situations may be attributed to maturity issues, learning issues, and family issues.  Individual needs will be considered and teachers will continue to do what they do best--teach and love students.  For more information, contact the Principal or your child's teacher.
