My goal within the Family and Consumer Science department is to prepare students to think creatively and critically in making decisions to improve the quality of their lives. Students in my class will deal with nutritional and wellness needs throughout their lifespan.

In the Family and Consumer Sciences department, I teach the Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness course, and the Introduction to Culinary course. Both of these courses begin with safety and sanitation in the kitchen. We then move on to topics such as: appliances, tools, techniques, and basic nutrition.
I also oversee the PALS program. This program consists of IPHS seniors who are selected through an application process to mentor younger students within IPCISD. These PALS will be assigned to an elementary classroom for one period of the day for the school year. The program is an opportunity for younger students to interact with older, positive role models within their community.

During my time away from school, I am active in mission work at my church. I greatly enjoy the outdoors; hunting, hiking, fishing and camping. I also teach the Texas Hunter's Safety Course, instruct basic archery, and I am an official scorer for the Texas Big Game Awards.
